Just like any other booknerd,I can never pick my favourite book. But if I finally decided to select one as my favourite,I think that The Book Thief will be one of the closest competitors for that place. Not only this is one of my favourite books ever,I also think that it's one of the best written books ever.Period.
It's a book that will blow your mind, and after countless rereads,I am still blown away by The Book Thief.
Now,let me tell you,why you all must read this wonderful, amazing and awesome book.
The book is so unique
Now tell me the truth.Have you ever read,or even heard of another book that's narrated by death?Certainly not.
This book is one of a kind.Literally.I've never read a book that's similar to Book Thief, and I don't think I ever will.
Book Thief is one of the most original and unique books I've ever read.
The writing style
We always fall in love with fictional characters. But have you ever fell in love with an author?I think I just did after reading this book.Markus Zusak's writing is mindblowing.I don't know how to even describe the writing style.I can only give you examples for it.
If you like history-or wars-like me,then you'll love this.
This book is set in Germany.During the second world war.I think I learned more about the war from this book, than I did from my history textbooks.
I really do have an obsession with wars. What that says about me,I really don't know, but still I love reading books or watching movies about it.Especially when it's about Second World War.

Here's a small fact
You are going to die
It's just a small story really, about amongst other things:
A girl
Some words
An Accordionist
Some fanatical Germans
a Jewish fist-fighter
and quite a lot of theivery
A last note from your narrator
I am haunted by humans
The writing reminded me of chocolate. Not because it was sweet, but because it was so smooth. It just flows through you,and reading the book was as easy and addicting as eating chocolate.
And I was in total awe with the writing style of the book, with maybe an expression like this.

I don't know how many of you share my love for Second World War-I actually don't think many do-but still,if you are interested in the concept, then you'll love the book.
The Book Thief is descriptive about the tragedies and life during the war.It made me so sad to read all of them, especially the deaths and the burning of the books, preventing people to be creative.
“I guess humans like to watch a little destruction. Sand castles, houses of cards, that's where they begin. Their great skills is their capacity to escalate.
The characters are wonderful.
Death-as a narrator-was amazing. It's actually quite amusing that I found him so funny and like able.Seriously.
Liesel was cute. She was a girl who obviously loved books. She loved reading, and stole books.I loved her thirst for knowledge.
And then there was Hans Hubermann, who was a really wonderful man.He was a really good role model to Liesel, and I loved how steady and calm he was.
His wife was a piece of work. Her colourful character and personality was quite amusing,Half of the time she was swearing in German-thanks to her,I've even learned curse words in German;).She reminded me of a ruder version of Mrs Weasley.
Rudy was my favourite character. He was so cute and adorable.I was totally in love with him, from his first introduction.
The totally adorable relationship between Liesel and Rudy
Is there anything more cuter than a little boy who's in love with a little girl?
I don't think so.
Rudy's love for Liesel was cute and wonderful.I was sighing heavily thinking how cute these two were.
The movie adaptation is good
Well, not as amazing as the book, which is expected, but the movie itself was really good. The actors were great, the visuals wonderful, but most of all,the best thing about the book is its soundtrack!
It's truly amazing.I wish I could have gone to the theater to watch the movie,as I could have experienced the beauty of the soundtrack more effectively, that way.
“A SMALL PIECE OF TRUTH
I do not carry a sickle or scythe.I only wear a hooded black robe when it's cold. And I don't have those skull-like facial features you seem to enjoy pinning on me from a distance. You want to know what I truly look like? I'll help you out. Find yourself a mirror while I continue.”

“How about a kiss, Saumensch?"
He stood waist-deep in the water for a few moments longer before climbing out and handing her the book. His pants clung to him, and he did not stop walking. In truth, I think he was afraid. Rudy Steiner was scared of the book thief's kiss. He must have longed for it so much. He must have loved her so incredibly hard. So hard that he would never ask for her lips again and would go to his grave without them.”
But still,it's a book about World War 2.We can't expect happily ever afters can we?
Despite giving us a cute relationship to smile over, the book also gives us a tragedy to cry over. When I first read the book,I was totally shocked by the ending, and couldn't stop my tears.
And even after rereading it so many times,I can never keep myself from crying.
The Book Thief talks about books...and words
I love how The Book Thief talks about the beauty and power of words.Well, after all,it's about a girl who steals books. It is expected:)
“I like that every page in every book can have a gem on it. It's probably what I love most about writing—that words can be used in a way that's like a child playing in a sandpit, rearranging things, swapping them around. They're the best moments in a day of writing—when an image appears that you didn't know would be there when you started work in the morning.”
