2015 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon:Introduction

Hi guys!
I am quite excited to let you all know that I am taking part in the Book Blogger Love a Thon this year. It's an event that is dedicated to spreading love around the blogosphere. It's hosted by Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books and this year, the Random Acts of Kindness initiative started by Jamie and Estelle is also tying up with the love a thon, and these ladies are doing their best to make February a month of love among bloggers.

There will be some challenges, giveaways and a lot of blog hopping and commenting sprees this weekend!I am trying to do my best in discovering blogs and comment on them,so if you think I'll be interested in your post or blog, don't forget to leave me a link!

So as a kick off post,Alexa wants us to answer a questionnaire,as a way get to know me better.

So here we go.

1.What's your name?

Truth to be told, this feels like an interview:)
Well,whatever.
My name is Mishma.I actually have a love hate relationship with my name.I like the fact that it's unique, but at the same time sometimes I hate it as no one gets it at first try.I have to repeat my name a couple of times when someone first meets me.It's worse with new teachers.

2.Where in the world are you blogging from?

I come from Sri Lanka. It may suck as a place for a booknerd to live (if you want to learn why, check this post out),but it's such a beautiful and amazing country so I can't complain a lot.

3.How did you get into blogging in the first place?

Well,I've been an avid reader of book blogs for three years before I started this blog.Suddenly I had this urge to start a blog on my own, especially since I've seen the love and friendship that exists in the community. And of course,I wanted to be able to talk about books with people who actually understood them!

4.How did you come up with your blog name?

It's actually a long story.I wanted my blog name to be unique and beautiful. So I wrote down a lot of names on a notebook and spent almost a week, picking one among them all.I mixed up idioms, phrases, famous quotes and beautiful unused words and created a lot of names (If you want a suggestion for  your blog name, let me know.I still have that notebook buried somewhere)
Chasing Faerytales was born out of one of my favourite idioms-chasing rainbows. To make it more bookish,I added  the word Faerytales,to emphasize my love for fantasy.

5.What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?

I read and review both YA and NA.I also go for adult books if the concept interests me.
My favourite genres are Fantasy and Contemporary.I also love historical romance-both highland and regency, but I don't review it.

6.What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?

Well,I post discussion posts a lot,as I love them more than writing reviews:)I occasionally do a Top Ten Tuesday if I like the topic.Addition to that,I recently started a feature called Snail Mail Buddies, inviting booknerds around the world to swap postcards with me.Check it out if you're interested.

7.Best blogging experience so far?

Blogging itself has been a best experience to me!However the best thing that I experienced with blogging is the support I got during the bingo card drama.I felt so loved when I received all those supportive comments I got when that happened.

8.Favourite thing about the blogging community?

I think the book blogging community is the most beautiful, supportive, friendly and wonderful one I've ever seen in my life.I love how bloggers inspire each other, help one another and support others when something bad happens.I am proud to be a part of it.

9.Name the 5 books  you're excited for this 2015.

1.A Court of Thorns and Roses! It's by Sarah J.Mass, who's one of the most kick ass authors I've ever read and it's a retelling of my favourite fairy tale. What's not to love?
2.An Ember in the Ashes. It sounds epic, and I love debuts.
3.The Fill in Boyfriend.I am a huge Kasie West fan.And this one sounds so cute.
4.Soundless.Richelle Mead is awesome!Just when you finish the epic series that is Bloodlines, she comes up with another series.
5.Confess.Just look at that cover.Enough said.

10.What's an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?

Well, you all should try out Sarah J.Pepper's books. She's a painfully underrated author, but her books are amazing. She writes fairytale retellings that are twisted, dark and wonderful.

11.Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?

Either Bianca from The DUFF or Caymen from The Distance Between Us.Both of these girls are cynical, sarcastic and completely amazing!I get along with these type of people quickkly,as I am the complete opposite of them, and they fascinate me a lot.

12.Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?

Well, obviously blogging is a hobby of mine.Other than that I love watching TV shows and movies.I am also interested in astronomy,so stargazing is a favourite hobby of mine as well.I even have  created lunar and star charts!
Mechanics and electronics interest me as well.I got my love for this from my father, and we spend a lot of time together in garages and experiment at home.

13.Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?

Clothes!Who doesn't love clothes shopping? My two BFFs love going window shopping and my mother is a huge shopaholic so I am never short of companions for a good shopping spree.

14.At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song-and it's your song. What song would be playing?

Anything Taylor Swift!I am a huge Swiftie and don't ask me to pick a favourite. Anything and everything she sings is awesome.

15.Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show,or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.

I'd love to see Forbidden as a film. But at the same time,I think they should be really careful with the casting, especially Lochan,as anyone not suitable will completely ruin the movie.
And I'd also love to read 500 Days of Summer. It's such an amazing  film, and I love books that doesn't have a HEA and are completely realistic yet romantic,so I think I'll enjoy reading it as a book.

Well,that was fun!
I am really excited for the love a thon, and don't forget to leave links for me-whether you are taking part or not-I'll be on a commenting spree soon.
