To tell the truth, I have a love hate relationship with book adapted movies. The fangirl in me can't help but be excited when I learn about my favourite books being made into movies, but the critique in me often ends up disappointed with the execution and cast.
But still in their defense, some movies are exceptionally good, especially when it comes to the visual effects, so here are my picks of books which I'd love to see as movies- only if they get into the hands of a good director and cast of actors.
1.The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstein
The magical and utterly mesmerizing world of Night Circus will make an awesome movie. Just imagine, all those illusions and the creations and food of the Night Circus being portrayed on screen.
It would be magical!
2.Vicious by V.E.Schwab
I told in my review for this book, that Vicious is a story where The Dark Knight meets X Men.
As in this
meets this
What more do you need from a movie?
Superpowers, antiheroes, epic villianousness and awesome characters. Vicious has it all!
3.Firelight by Kristen Callihan
This book is a recent favourite of mine, and as I told in my review, it is a beautiful portrayal of Gothic London and I really want to see a shady and dark rendition of Victorian Period London in a movie, which will come true if this book is adapted into one.
Plus the romance in this book is so hot, and I'd love to swoon over it on screen:)
4.Damsel Distressed by Kelsey Macke
Finally a contemporary!:) This book is beautiful. It broke my heart to pieces, and evoked a personal reaction from me. This Cinderella retelling is a deep and heartbreaking story about insecurity, self respect and depression. I think, if this book becomes a movie, it will inspire and touch the heart of a lot of teenage girls out there, who need more books and movies like this, to assure them that insecurity is normal, but that doesn't mean that we have to live with it all our lives.
5.The Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
The intricate and beautiful world and characters Laini Taylor has created will blow everyone's mind away if it comes on screen.
6.Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
One word. The Darkling, Okay that's two words, but who doesn't want to see him on screen?
7.Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Another contemporary I'd love to see as a movie. This book is not just a great romance, but also a story that brings great awareness to the whole foster care system, and it'll be awesome if they made it into a movie. And of course, who doesn't want to see a romance of good old starcrossed lovers on screen?
8.Antigoddess by Kendare Blake
The greek mythology geek in me was so happy with this book, and I'd die to see this movie if it happened. We have Athena in modern clothes, kick ass characters, fast paced action and lots and lots of twists.
9.The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Androids, cyborgs and an action paced fairytale retelling. YES! This movie should happen soon.
10. Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella
I would probably die laughing if I see this movie:)
